Brain Blast! with the McMahon lab

This past weekend, members of the McMahon lab attended Brain Blast!, an event created by the Vanderbilt Brain Institute to connect youth in Nashville with neuroscience. This year’s Brain Blast! was held at the Nashville Public Library Main Branch, located downtown on Church Street.

The event creates a fun atmosphere for kids to learn about the amazing science of brains.

The McMahon lab contributed an observation hive with a frame full of honeybees from one of the lab’s beehives. There was even a queen bee in the frame - can you spot her?

From the Vanderbilt Brain Institute, “In honor of Brain Awareness Month, every March VBI neuroscientists gather at the Nashville Public Library’s main downtown branch to join in on the worldwide celebration of the brain that brings together scientists, families, schools, and communities.”

This year’s event was a success! If you didn’t catch us this time, we’ll be at Brain Blast! next year, ready to teach you about bee brains!
